Do I still need to be tested for international travel, even if I am fully vaccinated?

Requirements are ultimately based on the traveler’s country of destination, and the majority of destinations abroad DO require a negative COVID test result within 3 days of departure. For a list of country-specific COVID travel requirements, you can visit the link below, and find the relevant US Embassy or Consulate.

Also, be aware that you will have to provide a negative test result before you are able to return to the United States. Testing positive while abroad could extend your travel time by weeks, which is why the CDC strongly suggests being fully vaccinated before international travel, though it is not currently a requirement for most destinations.

Do you have any suggestions or resources available to help stay safe while traveling?

We suggest checking government or Country websites directly, prior to making travel arrangements. This includes riverboat voyages and major cruise lines as well.

If you are planning on traveling internationally you can enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP.)

This is a free service provided to US Citizens that will provide you with up-to-date safety and security information from the nearest US embassy or consulate.

Do I need a COVID test for domestic travel?

For the most part, the answer is no, only testing for international air travel is required at this time, with the exception of Hawaii. Those traveling to Hawaii will still need to be tested within three days of departure, which we are unfortunately unable to provide at this time.

Do I need a COVID test after returning from a cruise?

The CDC recommends passengers with plans to travel by cruise ship get tested 1-3 days before their trip and 3 – 5 days after their trip.
In addition to testing, CDC recommends passengers who are not fully vaccinated self-quarantine for 7 days after cruise travel, even if they test negative. If they do not get tested, they should self-quarantine for 10 days after cruise travel.
